Therapeutic Sound is the procedure in which the human body can be restored to health and well being by the exposure of precise resonant frequency (sound vibrations) into the corresponding part of the body that is currently ill or “out of balance”. When the resonant frequency (sound vibration) is exposed into the area of interest the body cells are restored to its natural state.
A Meditative Sound Journey is a passive meditative modality designed to guide your awareness and consciousness through the use of sound. This immersive sensory experience uses the vibrational resonance of special instruments including Himalayan Singing Bowls, Crystal Singing Bowls, Gong, Handpan, Ocean Drum, Shaman Drum, Native American Flute, Koshi Chimes and Shakers to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and downshift brainwave states, enabling deep relaxation, rest and recuperation.
There are absolutely no physical requirements and there is no meditation experience necessary, making this an inclusive and accessible modality for just about anyone. If you are physically able to recline or sit for the duration of a sound bath (30-90 minutes) you are well suited to sound bathe. This low barrier to achieving a healing meditative state is why sound bath is my favorite modality of self healing and self care. The low barrier to participation makes sound bath an ideal activity and experience for families, friend groups, teams, and particularly in the workplace.
The experience of a Meditative Sound Journey experience varies widely from person to person. Some attendees experience an altered state of consciousness and have relayed deeply spiritual experiences. Some find it really helps with anxiety and depression and some people say they do their best thinking during a sound bath.
That being said, here are my three best tips for attending your first Meditative Sound experience with The Sonic Den:
A sound bath is the opposite of a sensory deprivation experience, though a number of people have told me it’s reminiscent of a float tank experience. The ongoing resonant sounds of Singing Bowls have a powerful physiological effect on the human body. During a sound bath, your brain wave patterns change and your parasympathetic nervous system is activated: the Rest, Digest, and Heal response in the body is triggered. Many people fall asleep during a sound bath and that is a beautiful experience because it means their body needed sleep - and you don’t need to be awake to receive the benefits of a sound bath.
DRESS COMFORTABLY. Bring a yoga mat, blanket, head/neck pillow, bolster for under your knees or other clothing layers to maximise your comfort and experience.
I begin each sound bath with a few deep breaths and a guided meditation. deep, diaphragmatic breathing begins the process of activating the parasympathetic nervous system. It sends a signal to our body that it is OK to relax.

Meditative Sound Journeys with The Sonic Den usually include a body scan, during which we consciously relax each part of the body. Being in a restful state when the sound bath begins will allow for the most optimal experience. All you have to do is stay present and listen to my voice. Then, all you have to do is let the waves of vibrational energy soothe and relax your mind and body.
To conclude, I use my voice to gently guide you back, inviting gentle movement back into your body, encouraging you to take your time and move at your own pace, eventually coming into a seated position.
Please also be aware of the following contraindication as these instruments are powerful and can affect certain conditions. If any of these apply contact me for further information.
Peace, sound & serenity to you.
